Looking for success in your endeavors? Would like to have the “Midas touch” where everything you touch turns to gold? Well, we know that the only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary. Still, sometimes it seems that we work our fingers to the bone and all we get (according to the old, old song) is boney fingers.
It is a wonderful thing when you begin looking in the Bible for the practical advice that we need for our daily lives. If you need counsel on finances, it is in there. If you need the recipe for joy, it is in there. If your brother in law wants you to cosign for a car for him, God’s word even addresses that.
Here is a good formula. When you find yourself praying for guidance for any particular situation, pull out a concordance and see what God has already revealed to you in His word. Most likely, you will find many scriptures that will address your problem. With the internet, it is easy to Google “scriptures on loaning money”. You will get a lot of sermons that address that very subject. When you do this, be sure not to take what you read at face value. Research the scriptures yourself and “Rightly divide” the Word.
Acts 17:11 – KJV – These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Do not even take what your Pastor says as “Gospel Truth” just because he says it. Research it on your own.
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
The scriptures should be on our mind all day long. Remember: they will renew your mind and transform your thinking in the direction that will bring you success. This is a promise!
Psalm 1:2-3 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Here is another verse that says the same thing. Most promises are “if…..then” promises: If you do this, then you will get this. You can ensure your success and your children’s success by absorbing the promises and doing what they say.
Deuteronomy 6:6,7 – KJV 6) And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: (There is the memorization part again) 7) And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
You and your family will have success for generations to come if you will dig into His promises!
