I am sure that you have seen the commercials on TV for the “miracle cream” that will get rid of all those “fine lines and wrinkles”. Then they show you someone who is obviously in their 20’s and airbrushed to the max. They promise that, for only $120 per month, you can look like this! Did you know that God addresses this in His word? It cost Him a great deal more than what you see on TV, but he has offered it to us for FREE!

Proverbs 17:22 – KJV – A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

This verse will keep you youthful and young looking well into your 60s and 70s. I have seen people that are in their 50s that look like they are in their 30s because they laugh a lot. It is not that they cannot get down to business when they need to, but they have made it their lifestyle to have a merry heart.

On the other hand, I have seen people who feel that it is not “mature” to laugh a lot and you can see the effect it has on their face.

The joy of the Lord is our strength:

Nehemiah 8:10 – KJV – Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send  portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared : for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Strength in this verse does not mean might. It means that the joy is our fortress. This joy will protect you from the worries and cares of this world if you will allow yourself to get caught up in it. It will keep you young.

There are so many scriptures on Joy. It is a fruit of the Spirit. God’s people should be the happiest people on earth because our future is bright. Let’s show the world how great it is to serve our God!

Isaiah 51:11 – KJV – Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

You will still have to face the hard things in life. That is unavoidable. So what do you do when things are going bad? Take the advice from Habakkuk:

Habakkuk 3:17-19 KJV – Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.

Keep your joy and you will keep your youth.

Tomorrow, we will talk about how find peace in the midst of every storm. If you cannot seem to find peace, you will want to come back and find out how to let the peace of God rule everything in your life.

  1. Love the laugh, peace and joy. Thanks for the reminder of the joy I feel everyday.
