Have you ever been in a place where you did not know what to do? Are you there now? Life has a way of throwing you the curve when you are looking for the high fastball. You think you have it all figured out…..then WHAM! Out of nowhere, you have to make decisions that you do not feel qualified to make.
God has made provision for us to tap into the greatest source of wisdom that exists: that is HIMSELF.
James 1:5,6 – KJV – If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
I have heard this verse used for someone who was praying for any number of things. But when you look at the context, it is saying that when we ask for wisdom, believe that God will dump it on you. Then trust what you are thinking when you have checked it with the Word of God. God will never look down from heaven and reprimand you or call you stupid when you ask for wisdom. Actually, this is one of the smartest anyone will do: ask for wisdom.
We are not left alone to wander aimlessly looking for answers. Jesus said he would send the Holy Spirit to guide us.
John 14:26, 27 – KJV – But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
I love how these 2 verses fit together. First of all, the Holy Spirit will teach us all things; so, open your heart to the teacher. Second, Jesus said The Spirit will bring all things to our remembrance that He has told us. This says to me that we have Someone to bring those scriptures back to our mind at the exact moment that we need them. This is why a thorough knowledge of the Word is crucial to daily living. We have the infinite wisdom of the universe at our disposal. Third, Peace is the result when we have this wisdom. So, do not be afraid.
We can rely on the wisdom God grants to us. How cool is it to have Someone who can give you direction that knows what is going to happen tomorrow? He knows what is planned for your life 20 years from now and He is pointing you in the right direction to get you there.
Our lives are quickly passing. It moves so fast that we feel like a pinball being bounced from one bumper to the other. That is why we must grab as much wisdom as we can as quickly as we can. Psalm 90 tells us that we spend our lives as a tale that is told. Then it gives us this advice:
Psalms 90:12 -KJV – So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.
So, does God think you are stupid? Not when we spend our time filling our hearts with His Word. This one action will guide you all the days of your life.
