Before I met my wife, I would ask those who were already married this question: “How did you know that you found the one?” I always got the same answer: “You just know”. Now, when someone who is not married asks me that question, I have an answer for them: “You just know!” It frustrates them just as much as it frustrated me. But, there is one statement that rings true down through time: “Knowledge is power”.
When you truly know something, it does not matter how many people say things to the contrary, you stand on solid ground. Truth is truth and it sets you free. As I thought about this, I started to look in the Bible to find verses that had these words: I KNOW, WE KNOW, YOU KNOW. So, when you see these words, you do not have to wonder if what being said is a fact. Add whatever is said to the list of things that you know. What an interesting study!
I found the Book of 1st John had at least 22 verses that talked about things that we know. I will not list them here. With only 5 chapters, you will be able to search these out for yourself. So, lets look at some verses that talk about what we know.
Job 42:2 – KJV – I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
This is a great faith producer. When we look at God, we must KNOW that He can do everything. Hebrews 11:6 says that he that comes to God must believe that He is and He rewards those he diligently seek Him. So put this on the list of things you know: He can do everything! It also says that we know that He knows our thoughts. So, keep your mind positive!
Psalms 56:9 – KJV – When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
Here is something we know that is based on a condition: I know my enemies will turn back when I cry out to God for help. We also know that God is with us. He will never leave us. He will walk with you through your most trying time today. Protection is promised.
Ecclesiastes 3:14 – KJV – I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
God does nothing halfway. Whatever He does lasts forever. He is in control of the entirety of the universe and His pleasure will be done. If you read the back of the book, you will see that we win and the devil gets what is coming to him. Remind Satan of this daily and he will tremble in his boots. God does all of this so men will fear and respect His power.
2 Timothy 1:12 – KJV – For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
God is able to handle anything we give Him. So why not trust Him with the direction for your whole life? You will be impressed with His timing and favor. He not only can be trusted to lead us now, but also to lead us through death’s door into His eternal presence. This we KNOW.
So, beef up your knowledge of God today. He has given us a more sure word of prophecy than the prophets of the old testament had: His holy word.
Finally, just know that He is God. He has it all under control. Nothing is taking Him by surprise. Your life is on track. You are not ahead, you are not behind, you are on time.
Psalms 46:10 – KJV – Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
