SATAN: 250,000 THE CHURCH: 1

Last week, I referred to a revival meeting where I saw a great move of God as a teenager. This was my first experience with an open heaven. There were such blessings generated from this that I had never seen before or since.

The first thing I remember was that we experienced an extreme harvest of souls into the kingdom. The altars were filled every night with lost souls crying out to God for forgiveness. This was not an uncommon occurrence in the book of acts:

Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about 3000 souls.

Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Acts 4:4 Howbeit, many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about 5000.

We are not experiencing an open heaven until we see an extreme harvest. It troubles me when I hear a pastor or church leader say that they are operating under an open heaven and no one is being saved! This can not be true. The supreme mission we have received from God is to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” We can not truly believe that we are fulfilling that promise when our sermons are anemic and no one is being saved.

This revival I am referring to generated at least 200 conversions in six weeks. These are the ones that we could count. Still a little short of 5000 in one day, but better than what I see occurring in our churches today. The sad fact is this: With approx. 250,000 and 300,000 babies being born in the world every day, the unsaved world is multiplying much faster than we are getting them saved. We are losing the race for men’s souls and we are apathetic about It. If we see one person saved in our church in a month we hearld this as a great revival and say that we are operating under an open heaven.

When the apostles went into a city, their witnessing went like this: Come into town, perform a miracle, preach to the crowd that witnessed the miracle, watch 3000 be converted, baptize them, then move on to the next place. And you thought miracles were to show everyone how spiritual you are? Did you think that God granted miracles as favor to you? I think that purpose of miracles deserves its own day, so we will get into that tomorrow.

For today, just remember that we are not experiencing an open heaven until we are seeing an extreme harvest of souls being converted into the kingdom. What we are seeing today is not the end time revival that we have been promised. I believe that we will see an open heaven at least once more before Jesus returns for us. I do not believe that He is coming back for the pathetic excuse of a bride that we see in His church today. I believe that He will return for a powerful, growing church that has submitted to His will to the point that He can use them in one big influx of souls into the kingdom. In short, a church without spot or blemish. When we have readied ourselves for our bridegroom, we will see that last revival that we have heard about and all long for. Until we are seeing a flood of people coming to our altars, we need to fall on our face and continue to pray, “Thy kingdom come……”

I was trying to draw attention to the fact that we have 250,000 humans with souls being born into sin everyday and the church is losing the race by leaps and bounds. We are not winning any where close to that number everyday. We must pray for God to send us an open heaven where we can see (like they did in the book of acts) 5000 saved in a day, 3000 the next day. etc. We could at least be catching up when this starts to occur.

I agree with you. I have even experienced a prophet saying that a day was open heaven day and for us to ask God for whatever we wanted for the coming year. Nothing about souls getting saved!

I too remember revivals in my youth where my Dad would go to preach for a week and so many would be saved that he would be asked to stay another week and then another. Not because of any miracles, but because so many were getting saved, set free from addictions, families reunited! Now those are wonderful miracles in themselves.

We must not keep leaving the message of the cross out of our preaching and teaching. We need to be willing to suffer for the cross as did the disciples.
